The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for receiving public feedback on proposed changes to mobile and broadband service quality rules. The Ministry of Communications made this announcement on behalf of TRAI following requests from industry groups seeking more time to respond.
Key dates and process
TRAI released a Consultation Paper on draft amendments to the Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024 on 5th August 2026. The original deadline for submitting comments from stakeholders was 26th August 2026, with counter-comments due by 7th September 2026.
These dates have now been pushed forward. Comments must now reach TRAI by 2nd September 2026, while counter-comments are due by 15th September 2026.

What this means for you
If you are a telecom operator, internet service provider, consumer group or any other organisation with a stake in how mobile and broadband services are regulated in India, you now have additional time to analyse the proposed rule changes and share your position. This extension gives you a week longer to prepare detailed comments on the consultation paper. Once TRAI receives all feedback, it will use these inputs to decide whether the regulations need amendment and in what form.
