The Ministry of Communications marked the 43rd Foundation Day of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the government’s main telecommunications research body. Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani attended the event in New Delhi. The celebration highlighted C-DOT’s work in developing India-made telecom technologies over four decades.
What was showcased
C-DOT displayed indigenous telecommunications solutions across multiple areas. The highlight was the unveiling of the Quantum Products Wall, featuring the organisation’s Quantum Series of products. These include homegrown Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions designed to protect India’s communication networks against future quantum computing threats.
Ministers launched a Quantum Product booklet detailing C-DOT’s work in quantum technologies. A day-long technical conference ran alongside the celebrations under the theme “Beyond Connectivity: Secure, Trusted and Intelligent Communication”. The conference covered three main areas:
- Cybersecurity
- 6G Communications
- Quantum Secure Communications
The sessions brought together government officials, industry leaders, technology experts and academics from institutions including IIT Jammu, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Madras and Northwestern University. C-DOT has been active in rural connectivity, BharatNet, 4G and 5G technologies, disaster management and artificial intelligence applications.
