The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has set up a High-Powered Task Force to study how India conducts public examinations and suggest improvements. Led by Shri Nandan Nilekani, the Task Force will look at everything from exam security to how tests are designed, including those run by the National Testing Agency. The government is now asking students, teachers, parents, exam bodies and others to share their ideas.
What the Task Force is looking at
The High-Powered Task Force wants to strengthen the systems that run public exams across the country. Its focus areas include:
- How exams are conducted and protected from cheating or security breaches
- The way questions are set and papers are marked
- How exam bodies are run and held accountable
- Better ways to catch and punish exam malpractice
- Using technology, including computer-based tests that are secure
- Building more exam centres and improving existing ones
- Making exams fairer for students from different backgrounds, regions, languages and economic situations
- Being open about results and handling complaints quickly
- Supporting student mental health during exam season
The Task Force wants to create an examination system that is dependable, fair, open to scrutiny and ready for the future.
How to submit your suggestions
Anyone can send ideas to the Task Force by September 13th, 2026. Suggestions can be made in English, Hindi or regional languages.
