The Indian Air Force has started hosting the IAF International Squash Championship 2026 at Chandigarh. This sporting event brings squash players from India and other countries to compete at a high level. The Ministry of Defence announced the commencement of the championship through the Press Information Bureau.
Key details of the championship
The tournament is being held at Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station Chandigarh. It began on 31 August 2026 and will conclude on 4 September 2026.
Six teams are participating in the championship. Two of these teams come from outside India—one from the United Kingdom and another from Sri Lanka. Veterans’ teams are also part of the competition.
The championship includes two types of events: team competitions and open singles matches. Both national and international squash players of the highest standard are taking part.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. He emphasised how international sports events help build understanding and friendship between countries. He also played a friendly match with Air Marshal M Baladitya (Retd) and Captain Dan Peskett of the United Kingdom.
