Indian Railways has given the go-ahead for a major overhaul of Bhavnagar Para Yard in Gujarat. The Ministry of Railways has approved the Bhavnagar Para Yard Remodeling project with a budget of around ₹125 crore. The work aims to reduce crowding at Bhavnagar Terminus and improve how trains are managed in the region.
What the project will include
The remodeling will add four loop lines and one engine reversal line to the yard. New railway sidings for shunting and maintenance work, called ART and ARME sidlings, will be built. The Station and EI building will be relocated as part of the work.
On the passenger side, the project will construct one new high-level island platform at Bhavnagar Para station and widen the existing Platform No. 2. Two Road Under Bridges will be added or extended to help passengers cross the railway tracks safely. A new Foot Over Bridge will be built and the existing one will be extended. Service buildings, electrical infrastructure and signalling systems will also be upgraded.
The project also involves relocating the Station and EI building and carrying out associated electrical and signalling works across the yard.

If you travel by train from Bhavnagar, you can expect better facilities once this project finishes. The current congestion at Bhavnagar Terminus will ease as trains are shifted to use Bhavnagar Para Yard for routine operations and storage. This should mean trains run on time more often and wait less at the main station. New and wider platforms, along with better footbridges and underpasses, will make it simpler and safer to board trains and move around the station.
