The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has showcased its Sanath Nagar campus in Hyderabad as a major facility for public healthcare, medical education and technology-driven patient services. A media delegation from Uttarakhand visited the facility to understand how the institution serves insured workers and their families across Telangana.
What the facility offers
The Sanath Nagar campus operates 1,044 beds across two hospitals: an 800-bed Medical College and Hospital, and a 244-bed Super Speciality Hospital. The complex includes 159 ICU beds, 45 dialysis beds, 10 modular operation theatres and five advanced operation theatre suites. Round-the-clock emergency services are available.
ESIC Telangana extends across all 33 districts through 4 ESIC hospitals, 70 dispensaries, 8 branch offices and 10 dispensary-cum-branch offices. The network covers 20,47,160 insured persons and 74,32,916 beneficiaries.
Over four years, patient numbers have grown substantially. Annual outpatient visits increased from 6,93,853 in 2022 to 9,80,925 in 2025. Hospital admissions rose from 78,086 to 95,037 in the same period. Surgeries climbed from 16,223 to 20,117. The facility achieved 85.6 per cent bed occupancy in 2025.
The hospital performs kidney transplants, including live-donor and cadaveric transplants, as well as ABO-incompatible procedures. It has completed 30 kidney transplants since starting in-house cadaveric organ retrieval in June 2024. During 2025-26, haemodialysis services benefited 59,868 patients.
The pathology laboratory is accredited at entry level for tertiary-care diagnostics and conducted over 16.7 lakh investigations during 2025-26, covering 162 test types and supporting oncology services.
The medical college offers 150 MBBS seats, 106 MD/MS seats, 15 M.Ch seats, plus postgraduate and allied health science programmes totalling 72 seats in fields such as cardiac technology, operation theatre technology and radiology.
