India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, is visiting Bhutan for three days starting 14 September 2026. The trip focuses on electoral cooperation between the two countries and marks participation in Bhutan’s National Voters’ Day celebrations.
What is planned during the visit
The Chief Election Commissioner will meet His Majesty the King of Bhutan in Thimphu on 14 September 2026, the opening day of his visit.
On 15 September 2026, Shri Gyanesh Kumar will serve as Chief Guest at Bhutan’s National Voters’ Day event. This celebration will take place at the Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law in Paro.
On the final day, 16 September 2026, the Chief Election Commissioner will call on Dasho Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, in Thimphu. He will also hold discussions with senior civil servants of Bhutan during this meeting.
