The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has expanded the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) to include affordable surgical and healthcare products beyond medicines. The scheme now offers items for mothers, babies, children and elderly citizens through its network of over 20,000 Janaushadhi Kendras across the country.
What products are now available
The PMBJP has introduced several product ranges under different initiatives:
- Janaushadhi Bachpan: Baby care items including diapers, wipes (pack of 20 at ₹45), feeding bottles (250 ml), manual breast pumps, hot water bags and infant feeding tubes
- Maternal care: Abdominal belts for post-delivery recovery and cervical pillows (₹525) for pregnancy and post-pregnancy support
- Child health devices: Electrical nebulizer machines (₹937.50) and nebulizer masks with tubing for children (₹200)
- Health monitoring: Glucometer test strips for 25 tests (₹500) and pulse oximeters for measuring blood oxygen levels
- Jan Aushadhi Swabhiman: Adult diapers for elderly and bedridden individuals
The government has indicated that additional products are in the pipeline, including knee braces, walkers, medical steam vaporizers, foot elevator pillows, pregnancy back support belts and cervical collars.
