The Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, operating under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, has completed a four-week Summer Internship Training Programme that trained over 8,000 engineering students during May and June 2026. The programme brought together young engineers from 22 States and Union Territories, as well as 26 international participants from Sudan and Yemen. This initiative aims to equip students with practical, industry-ready skills alongside their classroom learning.
The Numbers and Coverage
A total of 8,083 engineering students participated across multiple disciplines. Mechanical engineering attracted the largest group with 3,193 trainees, followed by Electronics with 2,209 students, Information Technology and Software with 1,948, Civil engineering with 388, and other emerging fields with 345 participants.
The programme spanned 39 different domains. The most popular training courses were Artificial Intelligence, which drew 1,748 students, PLC Programming with 1,000 enrolments, AutoCAD with 991 participants, Python Programming with 413, and Data Analytics with 392 students. Beyond these, the curriculum also included training in Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, and Additive Manufacturing.
Participants came from diverse educational backgrounds, including Indian Institutes of Technology, National Institutes of Technology, various deemed universities, engineering colleges, and polytechnic institutes across the country.
