The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, through Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), held a farmer awareness event in Telangana to promote the Prime Minister’s Pradhan Mantri Proactive Agro Management (PM PRANAM) scheme. The event took place at a fertilizer dealer’s shop in Miryalaguda, Nalgonda District, and brought together dozens of local cultivators to discuss sustainable farming practices.
What was covered at the event
More than 37 farmers from Chinthapalli village and nearby areas attended the Kisan Sangoshthi, or farmer dialogue session, held on 28 August 2026. MFL’s Manager (Marketing) for Telangana, S. Karuppaiah, led discussions explaining PM PRANAM’s goal of reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers to protect soil and the environment.
The session focused on practical farming advice. Farmers received printed materials on balanced fertilizer use and learned about alternatives such as organic manure, green manure and vermi compost. They were specifically counselled against overusing urea and DAP fertilizers. Karuppaiah also addressed the immediate drought conditions affecting the Miryalaguda area and how sustainable soil management could help farmers cope.
Participating farmers raised their own concerns. Many requested that MFL’s Vijay brand 17-17-17 complex fertilizer be made available locally. They mentioned that in its absence, they were being offered SPIC brand fertilizer instead, but preferred to purchase Vijay if it could be supplied in time.
