The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully held the NEET-PG 2026 examination on 30 August 2026. The test was administered to over 2.73 lakh registered candidates across 1,111 centres in 339 cities spread across all 36 States and Union Territories. Approximately 2.65 lakh candidates actually sat for the examination.
How the exam was conducted
The examination was overseen by 2,527 faculty members appointed as Independent Appraisers. An additional 700 senior faculty members, including Deans and Directors, were deployed as Flying Squad members to monitor the process. To coordinate monitoring efforts, NBEMS activated 16 Regional Command Centres across the country.
Security measures included live CCTV surveillance of all examination centres, with footage monitored continuously from NBEMS Headquarters in Dwarka. A dedicated team of 190 personnel from NBEMS and TCS managed real-time surveillance. Officials from NBEMS, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, BEL, ECIL and TCS maintained close oversight throughout the day. Aadhaar-based authentication was used to verify candidate identity at centres.
The examination was completed successfully for approximately 2.63 lakh candidates. However, a technical disruption occurred at two test centres in Jaipur, Rajasthan (iON Digital Zone Sitapura Centres numbered 41682 and 41683) due to internal power supply issues. This affected 2,445 candidates who could not complete the examination.
What happens next
NBEMS has scheduled a re-examination for the 2,445 affected candidates on Saturday, 5 September 2026 at 3:00 PM in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The board stated it regrets the inconvenience and has taken steps to provide these candidates a fair opportunity. Venue details and examination instructions will be communicated separately to affected candidates.
What this means for you
If you registered for NEET-PG 2026 and were among the 2,445 candidates at the two Jaipur centres affected by the power outage, you will get another chance to take the examination on 5 September. Watch for further communication from NBEMS regarding your exam venue and instructions. If you appeared at any other centre and completed the examination, the results process will proceed as planned.
