The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is holding a series of regional roadshows to prepare for the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit) 2026, set to take place in New Delhi from 2 to 5 November. The third roadshow in this nationwide campaign reached Hyderabad on 31 August, bringing together government officials, industry leaders and renewable energy stakeholders from southern India to discuss clean energy opportunities ahead of the main event.
What the roadshow covered
The Hyderabad roadshow highlighted the renewable energy strengths of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Officials from these three states outlined their clean energy ambitions and investment opportunities.
- Andhra Pradesh announced a target of 160 GW of renewable energy additions by 2029 under its Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024. The state is developing a Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone to attract clean energy investment.
- Tamil Nadu emphasised its long experience in wind and solar power and highlighted plans to expand energy storage and pumped-storage projects to meet peak power requirements.
- Telangana outlined its Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, which offers incentives for renewable energy generation and clean energy manufacturing.
A Joint Secretary from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy noted that India’s installed non-fossil fuel capacity has crossed 300 GW and the country is moving toward its 500 GW target by 2030. He said the next phase of India’s clean energy transition must focus on transmission, energy storage, manufacturing, green hydrogen and digital technologies, not just adding generation capacity.
Earlier roadshows were held in Jaipur on 24 August and Mumbai on 27 August. Further roadshows are planned for Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
