The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, has started a digital dialogue series called ‘AyurVarta’. The series aims to share authentic Ayurveda knowledge and scientific research with audiences across India and internationally. It launches ahead of Ayurveda Day, which the government observes on 23 September.
What the series will cover
‘AyurVarta’ will be an ongoing digital initiative featuring conversations between Ayurveda experts, doctors, researchers, scientists and policy specialists from India and abroad. Each episode will focus on different aspects of Ayurveda and its place in modern healthcare.
The inaugural episode discussed why Ayurveda Day is observed on 23 September. The date was chosen as a fixed annual date for the celebration, replacing the earlier practice of observing it on Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras). According to AIIA officials, 23 September falls near the Autumnal Equinox, when day and night are roughly equal in length. This timing reflects Ayurveda’s core principle of balance and equilibrium in health.
Future episodes will explore topics including:
- Scientific research foundations of Ayurveda
- Education and the role of younger practitioners
- Ayurveda’s contribution to public health
- Technology and innovation in Ayurvedic practice
- Integration with modern medicine
- Medicinal plants and natural resources
- Preventive healthcare and healthy living
- Ayurveda’s global expansion and opportunities
- Evidence-based Ayurvedic research
Where you can watch
Episodes will be released on AIIA’s official digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram. This makes the content accessible to students, young people, doctors, researchers, academics and the general public.
