Bharat Tex Trade Federation and Première Vision SA Sign Strategic MoU to Strengthen India-France Textile and Fashion Collaboration

The Ministry of Textiles announced a partnership between the Bharat Tex Trade Federation and Première Vision SA, a major international fashion and textiles platform based in Paris. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 2 September 2026 to deepen cooperation between Indian and global textile businesses. The partnership will benefit Indian manufacturers, exporters, designers and artisans seeking access to international luxury and premium fashion markets.

What the Partnership Covers

The MoU builds on an earlier Letter of Intent signed in July 2026 at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi. A Joint Steering Committee will oversee the collaboration across four main areas:

  • Delegation and Knowledge Exchange: Indian and international exhibitors, speakers and experts will participate in each other’s trade shows, with joint buyer-seller meetings organised.
  • Export Promotion: Joint initiatives to improve market access, share trade intelligence and arrange reverse buyer-seller meetings between Indian exporters and international buyers.
  • Sustainability: Cooperation on circular production, traceability and responsible manufacturing practices at both organisations’ events.
  • Heritage and Craftsmanship: A dedicated “Eternal Crafts Collaboration” to showcase Indian and French textile heritage. An event called “A Living Thread” is planned for January 2027, featuring Indian hand embroidery, handlooms and French textiles together.

The timing is significant because the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, concluded in January 2026, provides duty-free access for Indian textile exports on most tariff lines. The EU imported approximately 292.8 billion US dollars of textiles and apparel globally in 2025, while India currently exports around 10.4 billion US dollars to the EU. The new zero-duty access is expected to create substantial opportunities for Indian garment makers, yarn producers and home textile manufacturers.

What this means for you

If you work in India’s textile, apparel, handloom or craft sectors—whether as a manufacturer, exporter, designer or artisan—this partnership creates direct pathways to international buyers and European markets. Small businesses and women entrepreneurs in textiles gain access to global trend information and premium sourcing networks through Première Vision’s platforms. The heritage craftsmanship focus means traditional Indian textile skills now have formal international showcase opportunities.
